That is an amazing quote. I just had a mini-debate about this w/ my stepmom who told me she remains quiet when people say racist things around her. I was shocked! I said, "Your GRANDSON is who they are talking about - he's included!" I also informed her that, regardless of who it is, I will not be silent. I'm not sure she liked that, but we're hoping that as Micah grows older, she'll begin to understand how insidious racism is and how people will view him and that we all need to speak up when the time comes.
Ok - sorry - little rant there. Anyway, thank you for posting. Maybe I should send this to her. :)
